Compete in World Gammon Tournaments
Once you have learned to love this exciting game there is nothing quite like going up
against some of the world's best Backgammon players. But be prepared, this isn't going to
be a walk in the park and the stakes can be very high. Here are some basic things about
world Gammon tournaments that you need to be familiar with before you decide to go on the
road to make your fame and fortune on the world Backgammon circuit.
Decide how you want to play. There are two forms of world Gammon tournaments. The
first, and traditional option, is by playing in a brick and mortar gaming facility, hotel,
or wherever the directors set up the tournament. There are a lot of regional Backgammon
tournaments set up this way and they are relatively easy to get into with little or no
qualifying criteria. You do have to qualify at this level, however, to advance to the
larger world Gammon games. A lot of times these will be set up in Bingo halls.
The other option, and one that is quickly becoming very popular, are world Gammon
tournaments that are being played online. There are many advantages to this and some of
the premier world Gammon tournaments are beginning to use this platform for game play.
The reason that this is so popular is that it allows players from literally all over the
world to play with relative ease. Instead of having to transport the world's best to
London, for example, the world's best can simply meet at 5:00 PM (GMT) and play. While
world Gammon competitions are changing the way in which they're played, the game itself is
timeless and will never change.
