The Stages of the Backgammon Board Set Up

Backgammon has been played since long back, and has stood the test of time. The fact that it has survived so long is testimony of its popularity. The reason for the popularity of the game is that it requires not just luck, but also skill and strategy in equal measure. The move to hit the Internet has paid rich dividends for backgammon, with the game seeing a further surge in popularity, acquiring the status of the most popular gambling game. The key to the game is the backgammon board set up.

When playing backgammon, you should know about the backgammon board set up. You should know the backgammon rules that determine the board set up, and make sure you are in sync with them every time you set the board. Ensure that you set the board on a level surface. Setting it on an uneven surface can be very irritating, especially when you are reaching the end of the game and your checkers are slipping all over the place.

One of the first things to look at during backgammon board set up is to ensure all the checkers are present. The right number is 30 in all, 15 each in two different colours. Once you are sure all the checkers are present, the next step in backgammon board set up is to place them correctly on the different quadrants on the home and outer boards. Ensure that you have 15 checkers of the same colour and that your rival has the remaining 15 in the other colour. Finally, arrange the pair of dice and the dice cup, and your board set up is over. This holds for both offline as well as online backgammon, though in the latter you do not have to physically set up the board.
