Backgammon Languages Unite the World
Backgammon has been around for centuries and has been played in probably every language on the face of the Earth since its inception. Online Backgammon is no exception and since the first game offered by the First Internet Backgammon Server (FIBS) offered the first game Backgammon has been offered in the many different languages allowing players to play regardless of linguistic leaning.
Initially the games that were being offered were all free. This was great, for a time, but as the game expanded so too did the offerings which eventually included money games and more impressive user interfaces.
Once the explosion had happened and more and more players became interested in playing the game online the industry soon realized that they needed to offer more Backgammon languages. For players to truly become involved in the game they need to understand the game in their own native tongue.
The fruits of their labor are evident and there are many Backgammon languages being offered. Depending on the site, some sites offer upwards of nearly twenty different languages that a player can choose from to play in. The only way to go is up, and the more players that come on board with varying backgrounds the more Backgammon languages that will be offered. Never again will a player sit in front of their computer screen unaware of what the screen says as they attempt to play their favorite game.
The barriers that have kept people apart when playing online Backgammon have begun to fall and continue to do so. By incorporating more and more Backgammon languages the Backgammon community can set an example to the rest of the world and be seen as equals on something even as simple as a Backgammon board.
