How to Become a Backgammon Master
Backgammon has been the worlds favorite board game for many years, and rightfully so. It has been around longer than virtually any other board game in existence and continues to grow in popularity as one of the Internets hottest gaming pleasures. In the early sixties the Backgammon World Championships created a competitive atmosphere unseen before in Backgammon play and created true champions. The Backgammon master was truly born from the fire of this competition.
There are many places to compete, on and off line. But the Backgammon World Championship still remains as crucial to Backgammon as the World Series is to baseball. This is where Backgammon masters are made and this is where any player that considers themselves a Backgammon professional wants to be.
To become a master a player must devote a large amount of their lives to the study of the game. A player should be very focused and study the game as much as possible. To waiver in the least can mean the difference between the coveted championship and mediocrity. The amount of focus that it takes to even get to the championships is extreme and to win the amount of matches during the championship can be nerve racking. But thats what it takes to be a Backgammon master. If a player merely wants to play for the enjoyment of the game, thats fine, but a player should never delude themselves into thinking that talent alone will take them everywhere they want to go
A good way to prepare for such intense competition is to read as much as possible about the game. There are many resources available both on and off line. A player must also be able to win virtually at will against any number of players and they must practice, practice, practice. Only then a player might find themselves being invited to the most prestigious Backgammon championship of them all which takes place in Monte Carlo. To become a Backgammon master a player must truly be the best.
