Basic Backgammon Book Titles

Unlike some gambling pastimes that rely on luck alone, a player can go a long way to contributing to his own success by learning backgammon tips and reading backgammon books. There are many excellent books available for basic backgammon players, available at bookstores or online.

Paul Magriel's "Backgammon" is probably the most well-known basic backgammon text. It incorporates all the rules and strategies that are found in a game and is an excellent starting point for new players. It provides backgammon tips and pearls of wisdom that can only be offered by a player as great as himself.

Basic backgammon players will also find what they are looking for in the book: "501 Essential Backgammon Problems", by another champion, Bill Robertie, as well as Kit Woolsey's "The Backgammon Encyclopedia: Volume 1". These books provide answers to many basic backgammon problems and should definitely find their way onto the shelves of any new player. Even advanced backgammon players should own a copy of each, if they don't already, as it is always useful to consult the classics now and then.
