Build a Backgammon board
When a Backgammon player decides that the time is right to build a Backgammon board a whole world of choices opens up to them. A player cannot simply walk into their woodshop, or metal shop for that matter, and start to build a Backgammon board. Without prior planning a board hastily built will most assuredly not satisfy the builders wishes. To truly start on the right path a player should take their time to research different types of material and also review the designs of some of the most well constructed boards.
One item that must be weighed and considered when planning to build a Backgammon board is the durability of the materials. For example, if a player decides to use marble to build the board the player can rest assured that the board will be very durable and stand
up to all but the most violent mishaps. However, if a player chooses to use a linen cover the player may be replacing it every year or so. Another consideration is the ease in which the material is able to be cleaned. The marble surface would be very easily cleaned with just a wipe of the cloth; however, the linen covered board would probably be unable to recover from the wayward wine stain.
The most commonly used material considered when a player starts to build a board is wood. This also isnt the easy choice that it sounds like and there are many exotic, as well as domestic, woods to choose from. Each has their own special characteristics that make them more or less suitable than other choices. These are just a couple of considerations to take into account before a player decides the time is right to build a Backgammon board.
