How to Play Easy Backgammon

Backgammon is an easy game to learn, but a very hard game to master. To get started there are some basic rules that a player must know before getting underway and there are some ways to make it easier. Easy Backgammon is played on a board consisting of twenty-four triangles called points. The points are arranged in alternating color combinations. Players use game pieces, checkers, to move from one side of the board to the other. Once a player has removed all of their game pieces from the board they are declared the winner. There are two ways to play. The first is the traditional way of playing with a real board, or by playing online.

Each player is allotted 15 pieces in either dark or light colors. The colors themselves do not have any bearing on the game and are simply a personal preference. Generally they are either white or black. The pieces are set up along the twenty four points spanning the inner and outer boards. Each player then throws dice to move their pieces from the outer board to their inner board at which time they have the opportunity to throw the dice to bear them off of the game board.

These are simply the most basic principles of easy Backgammon. A player can pick these up in a few short minutes but to truly understand the game of Backgammon takes years. There are two easy ways to play easy Backgammon, on and off line. A player should practice using whatever version they like and play as often as possible. Once the basic rules are learned a whole new world is opened to the easy Backgammon novice.
