Playing the 64 cube in the backgammon Chouette game

With the many variants in terms of moves and rules to the backgammon Chouette game, there are many advantages and disadvantages to be had by playing with the 64 cube. Once playing with 64 cube the stakes are high, although of course they can go higher; the Chouette player is not limited to the 64 cube, and it can continue to be doubled so long as the agreed rules at the start of game stipulate this.

The main advantage of playing the backgammon Chouette game with the 64 cube is that the possible profit is much greater. It is also a much more exciting game as for this exact same reason. However, the possible loss is also equally great and money management may become a big issue for even the most experience Chouette player. Another worry is the ability of the opponent to be able to pay out.

It is not actually that common for a regular backgammon Chouette game to end up with the 64 cube in play; the reason being that the cube at this level can be somewhat intimidating. Also, the same exciting effects can be established by raising the stake at the beginning of the game so that the cube does not have to reach the top end of the doubling options to make the game exciting. Indeed, many Chouette players will agree that this suggests the stake played for initially is set at the wrong level for the player.

Playing with the 64 cube is more common during match play with the backgammon Chouette game where the matches are played for points. Here the stake itself is not at risk and so money management is not such a consideration for the Chouette player.
