Omaha Hi-Low Poker Instructions to Follow

If you like the idea of making up two separate poker hands to win half of the pot, then Omaha Hi-Low is the game for you. The following Omaha Hi-Low poker instructions will help you learn the basics of this fun and sociable game.

Following the Omaha Hi-Low poker instructions is easy if you've played Omaha poker before. Instead of aiming to make one high five card hand, your aim is to make two hands. The first hand is a regular high hand while the second is a low hand featuring cards valued at 8 and below. An Ace can be used as either a high or a low card in an Omaha Hi-Low game and cards can belong to separate hands or both.

The rule governing the winning hands in an Omaha Hi-Low game is the same as regular Omaha. Omaha Hi-Low poker instructions require a player to produce a five card hand comprising three community cards and two out of four hole cards.

At final showdown, a player must reveal both his high and his low poker hands. Sometimes he may only be able to play a high card hand. If there is a winning low card hand, the player that possesses it will share the pot with the high card winner. If there is no winning low card hand, Omaha Hi-Low poker instructions stipulate that the entire pot is awarded to the player with the highest hand.
