Texas Hold’em Poker

Texas Hold’em poker is one of the most popular poker games in the world. First played in Robstown, Texas in the early 1900s the game was introduced to Las Vegas casinos in 1967. Since then it has been on a constant incline in popularity as millions of players have begun to play Holdem Poker both on the Internet and off.

If you are interested in learning to play Holdem poker you are in luck—the rules of Texas Hold’em poker are quite simple to learn. Texas Holdem begins with a round of blind bets. Players place bets in order to create an ante, or prize pot. Then the game of Texas Hold’em poker begins.

To begin the game each player receives two private cards from the dealer. Based on these cards players decide to fold, bet or raise. In Texas Holdem when a player folds he leaves the game, forfeiting his bet. When a player bets he places the minimum bet and when he raises he places a higher bet, raising the minimum bet.

There are then three more rounds. In the first of these rounds three community cards are placed face up on the table. In the next, one community card is added and in the final one additional community card is added, for a total of five community cards and two private cards. Between each round of Texas Hold’em poker is a round of betting.

At the end of the game is the showdown. Remaining players reveal five-card hands created from private and community cards. The player with the highest ranking hand wins and takes the prize money!
