Traditionally tells are linked to the way that your fellow player's twitches that physically give away the strength of his/her hand.
In a limit game a quick call with two flush or straight cards out generally is a sign that there is a draw. If while playing a limit game you see a quick rise this is usually indicating that your fellow player as a top pair. A call that is debated usually is an indication that a poor player is thinking that he has a generally weaker holding. One classic Texas Hold'em strategies when it comes to reading tells is that if someone thinks for a while and then raises, trust him as it is not a bluff. Finally, if a person often raises the pot preflop and then folds at the flop if someone bets at him is likely to be on tilt.
