Reading Barr on Backgammon
Barr on backgammon is an excellent book for all the aspiring champions who are looking for few expert tips to help them in playing backgammon. In all 120 positions of checkers in the game have been discussed in this excellently organized book.
A theme has been chosen, and then certain favorable backgammon positions have been discussed related to that particular theme.. Again another theme say An advanced anchors importance or How to prevent a double has been taken up and then the favorable positions have been discussed. This systematic handling of the themes makes the book very interesting and useful.
However if you are a beginner then you may not find Barr on Backgammon too useful because he has only devoted 10 pages to the beginner. There is absolutely nothing about tips on playing the opening roll of 3-1.
However Barr on Backgammon is excellent for those who are intermediate to advance players and the pages devoted to these levels of players are very useful. All the fundamentals and the purposes and objectives of each movement are discussed in it. To explain the topic and the positions which are more than one, entirely different positions are used.
Thus if you are a novice and have just started playing the game of backgammon then you may not find the book so very useful, but if you are an old hand and looking for ways of improving your backgammon game then this Barr on backgammon is a book which will help you immensely.
