The current version of the game also follows the principle behind these rules. Without doubt, it is one of the best known and most popular board games in the whole world. It has gained a further surge in popularity ever since it was made available online, a testimony to its universal appeal. There are millions of online backgammon players all over the world and countless numbers among these millions play the game at any given point in time at online backgammon room, while still more continue to play the game on real backgammon boards. To know more about this amazing game, it is critical to first know about the backgammon board setup.

That is why it is immensely important and part of the tradition of backgammon to adhere to the sequences required for a correct backgammon board setup. A backgammon board has six triangles that are very important in the context of the games rules. To draw an analogy, between backgammon and a war between two countries, the checker sets are the armies. Each army consists of 15 divisions or checkers, and these divisions move around the board on 24 dagger shaped tracks known in the backgammon board setup as points.

The board is divided into two halves, known as the inner and outer halves. The side closer to you is known as the home board, and the side away from you is called the outer board. The board, which for functional purposes usually can be folded, has a ridge down the center where checkers that have been taken out of play are usually stacked.

This is how the backgammon board setup has been always, right from when the first records of the game have been documented. The sequences given above are the ones that you need for a correct setup.
