The Length of a Backgammon Move

If you are a newcomer to the game of backgammon, you may be forgiven for taking your time over your backgammon move. After all, you don't have enough experience to be sure that the move you make is the right one. On the other hand, backgammon etiquette dictates that you should not take longer than a certain time and to do so is simply inconsiderate for the opponent.

Experts agree that you should not take longer than 15 seconds to make your backgammon move. If your online opponents are making sarcastic comments such as "zzzzz", you are probably taking too long for their liking. The perfect timing to make your backgammon move is around five seconds to ensure a fast paced and exciting game, however this is not always possible.

In order to adhere to etiquette rules and to better the time that you take to make your backgammon move, you should practice backgammon as much as possible. Play, play and play again against anyone who feels like a game. Download free backgammon software and play against others from around the world that also wish to practice their game, better their time and improve their play level.
