The right material for your backgammon boards is very important

Today you can find many different materials that are used to make a backgammon boards. The materials used will affect your game. The backgammon checkers and backgammon dice behave differently on different surfaces and some materials are more durable.

Among the best materials for to use for backgammon boards is wood. Different shades of woods are used to mark out the pointers. Quality wood will last a long time and the backgammon checkers slide well across a wooden surface. Also backgammon dice will not bounce to far or slide instead of roll on a wooden surface.

Some backgammon boards have a velvet surface or other material stretched across a thin piece of wood. This design is often used for foldaway boards. The dice should also be made of a strong material to that they do not chip over time. Quality backgammon boards and pieces are worth the investment because they will last much longer giving you pleasure for years.
