What are backgammon match rules?
Backgammon match games are the most common type of backgammon tournament. The backgammon tournament starts by dividing backgammon players into pairs who then play a number of games. The winners of this round go through to the next stage of the backgammon tournament. The series of games that each pair of backgammon players play against each other in is known as a backgammon match.
The winner of the match is determined by who gets to a set number of points first by earning one point for a regular win, two for a gammon, whilst a backgammon will produce 3 points.
The backgammon doubling cube is a means of getting more points per game in your backgammon match. By rolling the doubling cube you will receive the number of points that you would usually get for the game, doubled by the value shown on the backgammon doubling cube at the end of the game.
The Crawford rule is a usually instituted rule that prohibits the use of the backgammon doubling cube in a game if one of the backgammon players is one point away from winning the match. The rule can not be used in two successive games.
