What to look for in a backgammon dice cup

For those players interested in building their own backgammon board, they should also consider what type of backgammon dice cup would best suit their style and means. While there are various options in the backgammon dice cup range there are certain elements that should be considered.

An important question each backgammon board owner should survey is how to improve the quality of their gaming equipment. For example, players can purchase or build a regular backgammon dice cup or a randomized backgammon dice cup. Regular dice cups often come with a layer of felt glued to the inside of the dice cup. This makes the area within the cup smaller and therefore allows less room for the dice to be shook. It follows that skilled players will be able to use the smaller space to manipulate their roll. That is they can shake the cup in a way that prevents the dice from tumbling.

Alternatively, a randomized backgammon dice cup contains a slight "lip" within the cup. This lip can be added personally or the cup can be bought with it already inside. The lip forces the dice to roll when the cup is shook. That is, it provides a slight platform within the cup whereby the dice cannot pass over it without falling onto a different side. The randomized dice cups thus are able to prevent players from manipulating the outcome of their roll. This is integral to maintaining the standard of any backgammon board and game.
